The Bahrain GP was the first ever Grand Prix to be held in the Middle East with its introductory race held in 2004 and also became the first Grand Prix to be held under lights in the evening. Normally held during the first few races of the season it is a strong introduction to racing for the season and has won awards for the track infrastructure and design.
